Description

The hybrid sugar beet Cheyenne is a mid-season diploid variety oriented towards high yield and sugar content. Plants are characterized by single-stem growth and strong early growth, ensuring uniformity in growth rate and habit. Roots contain 17–18% sugar, and yields reach 45–60 tons per hectare under proper agronomic conditions. Cheyenne is distinguished by high initial growth energy and resistance to diseases such as ramulariosis and stem rot, which contributes to a stable harvest of high-quality crop. The crop is cold-tolerant but requires moisture, especially during seed germination, root formation, and growth. The hybrid also exhibits drought tolerance, enabling cultivation in various soil-climatic conditions of the sugar beet-growing zone. The optimal soil pH for Cheyenne is 6.5–7.5, and the plant poorly tolerates high acidity, positively responding to liming. Sowing is recommended at a depth of 6–7 cm when soil temperature reaches 6–8°C, with a seeding rate of 1.2–1.8 seeding units per hectare, ensuring plant density of 85–100 thousand plants per hectare before harvest. The hybrid Cheyenne is well-suited for mechanical harvesting, with October considered the optimal harvest time. Root heads are typically positioned above the soil surface, facilitating harvest. Due to its characteristics and adaptability, Cheyenne is successfully grown in all regions of the sugar beet-growing zone, ensuring a stable and high yield of quality sugar beet.
