Sugar beet POLL FD 1108

French Breeding Excellence for High Yields

The sugar beet hybrid POULL FD 1108, developed by the renowned French breeder Florimond-Desprez Veuve et Fils, represents the pinnacle of modern plant breeding aimed at balancing high yield potential with robust disease resistance. As a solution for intensive farming environments, this hybrid is designed for growers who prioritize consistent sugar output and field performance.

Disease Resistance Profile

A key strength of the POULL FD 1108 lies in its inherent resilience against the most persistent threats in sugar beet production. Florimond-Desprez has engineered this variety to provide significant protection against:

• Root rot (Rhizoctonia and other complexes), ensuring crop longevity.
• Seedling blight, commonly known as 'black leg' or root rot, protecting the crop during the most vulnerable early growth stage.
• Cercospora leaf spot, a major pathogen that limits photosynthetic capacity.

Performance and Economic Value

With a sugar content ranging between 16-17%, POULL FD 1108 is positioned as a highly efficient variety for industrial processing. Its genetic uniformity ensures excellent performance with mechanical harvesting equipment, reducing harvest losses and preventing root damage. By combining traditional French breeding precision with effective agronomic traits, this hybrid remains a reliable asset for agricultural businesses looking to optimize input costs while securing reliable yields in varying climatic conditions.
