Sugar beet Angela

Stable yields under high disease pressure

The sugar beet variety 'Angela' from the German breeding giant KWS is the go-to solution for growers facing annual challenges with aggressive Cercospora leaf spot and powdery mildew. Unlike many mid-intensity hybrids, this variety demonstrates remarkable field resistance, allowing farmers to reduce fungicide application rates without compromising yield potential.

Biological potential and root characteristics

The key competitive edge of 'Angela' lies in the balance between harvesting efficiency and product yield. The cylindrical-conical shape of the root ensures easy soil extraction during mechanical harvesting, which is critical for minimizing losses during logistics. With a sugar content of 18-19%, the hybrid is highly attractive to processing plants aiming for maximum sugar output per hectare.

Why choose this hybrid:

• High phytosanitary threshold: The plant actively resists rot, which is a frequent cause of root mass loss during the final stages of vegetation.
• Predictability: The variety performs consistently across various soil types, showing stable growth dynamics.
• Cost-effectiveness: Reducing chemical protection costs while maintaining produce quality allows for higher margins.

This KWS hybrid is optimal for producers prioritizing crop quality alongside total volume. 'Angela' is forgiving of deviations in treatment schedules, remaining healthy even under high humidity and fluctuating temperatures that typically trigger powdery mildew outbreaks.
