Spinat America is an annual plant of the Amaranth family, characterized by large, fleshy, and blistered leaves gathered in a dense, raised rosette with a diameter of 25-30 cm. The leaves are oval, dark green, reach up to 20 cm in length, and feature decorative pigment inclusions. This variety belongs to the medium maturation period, with a growing season of about 45-55 days, allowing harvest in both spring and autumn. Spinat America is not suitable for multiple cuts but boasts high yield and hardiness, tolerating higher temperatures and periodic droughts well.
The plant prefers fertile soils with neutral acidity and can be grown in open ground as well as under microgreen conditions on agrowate or specialized substrates such as peat-perlite or coconut-perlite mixtures. The seeds are large, matte brown, and sprout well, especially if they are of organic origin from BIO series, grown without artificial fertilizers and plant protection products. For microgreens, a sowing density of 8-10 grams per tray measuring 18x11 cm or 8-10 seeds per salad cup is recommended.
Spinat America is versatile in application: its leaves are suitable for direct consumption fresh, as well as for processing, freezing, and canning. Thanks to its dense structure and rich flavor, this variety is an excellent choice for growing both at home and on commercial plantations. Over the season from April to September, 2-3 sowings are possible, ensuring a stable and abundant harvest.
