Spinach CRATER

Stable yields in any weather

The Krater spinach hybrid from Nunhems is the choice of professionals who prioritize the balance between high productivity and predictable outcomes. In the professional vegetable farming segment, this variety stands out due to its vigorous, upright rosette. This is not just a visual trait: the upright habit simplifies mechanical harvesting and ensures the leaves remain clean even when overhead irrigation is used, which is critical for the marketable appearance of the produce.

Key advantage: disease resistance

The biggest challenge in spinach cultivation is downy mildew (peronospora), which can destroy crops in a matter of days. Krater features comprehensive resistance to a wide spectrum of downy mildew races. For growers, this means significant savings on fungicides and the confidence of securing a harvest even in high humidity or cool autumn conditions, when the infection pressure is at its peak.

• Color: Deep, intense dark green that persists even during post-harvest storage.
• Type: Hybrid, ensuring high uniformity of every plant in the field.
• Usage: Perfectly suited for both the fresh market and industrial processing (freezing).

Despite its high yield potential, Krater requires careful attention to the nitrogen fertilization schedule, as its intense growth combined with the dark green leaf color suggests increased nutrient demand. It is an optimal choice for farms operating on a continuous cycle: the variety reliably yields across different sowing periods, demonstrating excellent adaptability to varying temperature regimes.
