Sorghum Odster

Cultivation and Processing Insights

The «Odster» sorghum variety, developed by the Plant Breeding and Genetics Institute, is designed for producers focusing on the industrial sector and rigorous processing standards. Field experience shows that this variety offers the stability essential for efficient logistics and production capacity planning.

Agronomic Profile and Performance

In terms of cultivation, «Odster» does not require complex or overly sensitive management. The high uniformity of the crops simplifies the combining process: consistent plant height minimizes header losses and reduces load on the equipment. This directly translates into faster harvest speeds and lower fuel consumption, as there is no need for constant adjustment of the cutting height.

• Stress Tolerance: The variety shows a predictable response to drought conditions while maintaining excellent stalk integrity.
• Processing Efficiency: The grain is highly responsive to primary cleaning and drying, which significantly lowers energy costs when preparing for long-term storage or shipment to industrial processing facilities.
• Industrial Utility: Designed for industrial processing, the density and structure of the endosperm meet strict industry requirements, simplifying operations for flour mills and ethanol plants.

Regarded as a "workhorse" in agricultural operations, «Odster» is forgiving of minor delays in fertilizer application without sacrificing key grain quality metrics. Low lodging risk ensures that managing seasonal workloads on machinery remains straightforward and efficient.
