Description Favorit
The sugar sorghum variety 'Favorit' was developed by the Ivano-Frankivsk Selection Station and registered in Ukraine. It belongs to the late-maturing group with a vegetation period of approximately 125 days. Plants reach a height of 180 to 250 cm, have slightly inclined stems, and bear round seeds with dense husks. The thousand-grain weight is 27 g, and the stem weight with seeds is 117 g. The variety is characterized by a stable high yield of green mass and seeds, making it attractive for mechanized harvesting.

'Favorit' exhibits high drought resistance, resistance to lodging, shattering, and infection by smut, ensuring reliable yields even under adverse climatic conditions. In the forest-steppe zone, the dry matter yield reaches 93.9 t/ha, and seed yield — 32.8 t/ha. The protein content in the grain is 10.1%, and fiber content — 28.2%. The grain contains 5.9–6.1% protein, while the stem juice contains approximately 14% sugar, indicating the variety's value for agricultural use.

The primary use of the 'Favorit' variety is for silage production, thanks to its high green mass yield and sugar content in stem juice. The optimal seeding rate to achieve maximum productivity is 130,000 seeds per hectare. Due to its characteristics, the 'Favorit' variety is an effective choice for farms seeking a stable and high-quality sugar sorghum harvest.
