Sorghum RM 222

French breeding for high yields

The grain sorghum РМ 222 from the French brand Euralis Semences is a choice for farmers who prioritize stability in intensive farming. The originator of the variety, Serge Clamens, focused on productivity potential when developing this hybrid, which manifests fully when cultivation technologies are followed correctly.

Key features of the hybrid

Unlike many mid-ripening varieties, PM 222 demonstrates high tolerance to stress factors, which is critical for a crop often grown in risk-prone farming zones. Key characteristics include:

• Purpose: exclusive grain direction. The hybrid is engineered to maximize commercial grain output.
• Genetic potential: Euralis breeding ensures fast moisture loss during ripening, which reduces post-harvest grain processing costs.
• Adaptability: PM 222 responds well to high agro-backgrounds, allowing farmers to effectively utilize fertilizers to shape a high-quality yield.

Points to consider

PM 222 requires a strategic approach to selecting sowing dates. As a product of French breeding, it prefers well-warmed soil. A major strength of the hybrid is its resistance to lodging and uniform maturation of the stalks, which significantly simplifies mechanical harvesting. However, like any intensive variety, it may show reduced performance if there is a critical nutrient deficiency during early growth stages.

This hybrid is an optimal solution for farms looking to replace less predictable varieties and willing to provide the crop with a base level of technological control. It does not forgive neglect of sowing schedules, but it compensates for investments with a stable total grain yield.
