Sorghum Zevs

Technical profile of the 'Zeus' sorghum hybrid

In the 'Zeus' model, French breeder Euralis Semences has prioritized early maturity and high carbohydrate density, both critical for intensive grain production. With a growing season of 90–100 days, this hybrid optimizes crop rotation, allowing for harvest before autumn rains or frosts, which minimizes post-harvest risks.

Architecture and Field Durability

The compact plant habit, reaching a height of 110–120 cm, provides excellent lodging resistance. This stature is not merely a mechanical factor for easier combine operation; it represents an efficient resource allocation strategy, directing energy away from excessive vegetative biomass and focusing it directly on generative organ development.

Phytosanitary Performance

A key engineering breakthrough in the 'Zeus' selection is its heightened resistance to Fusarium. In high-humidity conditions, this pathogen can critically reduce grain weight and quality. The genetic defense system developed by Euralis Semences minimizes the risk of mycotoxin contamination, ensuring the grain is suitable for both livestock feed and industrial processing applications.

Grain Resource Value

A starch content ranging from 70–80% makes this hybrid a high-value energetic component for animal feed formulations. This concentration of digestible carbohydrates, when paired with sound agronomic practices, allows producers to optimize feed rations, directly enhancing the profitability of livestock operations.
