Description Ute BMR
Sorghum Ute BMR is a high-yielding mid-season sorghum-sudangrass hybrid with high yield potential and broad application in livestock feeding. Plants reach a height of 200 to 250 cm, have medium stem thickness and broad dark green leaves with a characteristic brown midrib. This hybrid has high protein content ranging from 9 to 14% and starch content of 76–80%, ensuring high feed nutritional value and improving animal productivity, including milk yield and meat gain during finishing. Ute BMR is resistant to bacterial blight, leaf spot, and corn earworm, significantly reducing crop losses and enhancing cultivation reliability. The variety exhibits high resistance to lodging and shattering, rated at 8 points, and contains the BMR gene, providing low lignin content (about 3%), which improves feed digestibility for animals. Due to these characteristics, the hybrid maintains high production performance even under abnormal drought and low rainfall conditions. Sorghum Ute BMR is certified to OECD standards and recommended for cultivation in steppe zones at a seeding rate of 180–200 thousand seeds per hectare. It is versatile in use: suitable for producing green feed, hay, silage, haylage, and grazing. High grain content in green mass increases the energy value of feed during ensiling, making this hybrid a promising choice for farmers aiming for efficient and sustainable feed production.
