Sorghum Kormovyi 5

Field Management and Operational Insights

When working with the 'Kormovoy 5' sorghum hybrid, the operator's main task is adjusting the combine harvester for its specific physical properties. Developed by the Institute of Grain Crops (Ukraine) and Boris Dzyubetsky, this hybrid is designed for dual use. Given the high starch content (70–80%), the grain is remarkably dense. During threshing, it is essential to calibrate the concave clearance precisely to avoid grain damage. Logistics personnel should also account for the higher specific weight of the harvested mass when planning transport capacity.

Maximizing Harvest Efficiency

• Grain Handling: Because of the high carbohydrate concentration, be careful with dryer temperatures to prevent scorching or quality degradation.
• Silage Processing: The hybrid features a robust stalk that requires sharp silage chopper blades. Ensure consistent particle size to maintain the high nutritional value of the silage.
• Field Performance: The crop shows excellent resistance to lodging, which allows operators to maintain steady ground speeds during harvest, significantly reducing field losses.

Operating with 'Kormovoy 5' is straightforward. It is well-adapted to the local Ukrainian climate, providing predictable ripening patterns. This consistency makes it easier for the farm manager to plan fuel consumption and equipment utilization throughout the season. The plant's structure is optimized for modern harvesting machinery, ensuring low maintenance overhead and reliable performance.
