Balto CS

Sorghum variety Balto CS is an early-maturing crop intended for cultivation in Steppe and Forest-Steppe zones. This variety is characterized by rapid early growth, allowing for timely harvest of silage-ready biomass. The vegetative period from germination to harvest spans 100-110 days, with plant height reaching 105-115 cm prior to flowering. Balto CS exhibits high resistance to lodging and stem breakage, as well as reliable retention of grain in the panicle during harvest, minimizing yield losses.

The grain of Balto CS variety possesses high quality: 1000-grain weight is approximately 29 grams, starch content reaches 75-77%, and protein content is 10-12%. By the end of the vegetative period, the grain loses moisture and becomes nearly dry at harvest time. For optimal yield, the recommended seeding rate is 160-180 thousand seeds per hectare. The variety prefers soils with good agrofertility, which promotes maximum productivity.

Balto CS is a high-yielding and drought-tolerant variety, making it especially valuable for regions with limited water availability.
