"Kharkivskyi 291 MV" is a simple interline hybrid developed by the V. Ya. Yuriev Plant Production Institute of NAAS. Its primary asset is physiological plasticity, tailored specifically for the temperate climatic zones of Ukraine. With an FAO rating of 290 (1240 heat units), the hybrid demonstrates balanced development, completing its life cycle within 100–110 days from emergence to physiological maturity.

Grain Morphology and Quality

The grain type is flint-dent. This specific morphology is engineered to combine high energy density—with a starch content of 72%—with an efficient moisture release rate during the maturation stage. In intensive farming, this contributes to lower post-harvest drying costs.

Phytosanitary Resilience

The selection focus centers on broad-spectrum resistance to pathogens, which is essential for maintaining consistent grain quality:

• High resistance levels against common smut and stalk rot reduce the necessity for repeated fungicide applications.
• Genetic tolerance to European corn borer damage minimizes the risk of secondary fungal infections in the cobs.
