Variety distinguishing features. Variety — sordida (sordida). Plants up to 80 cm tall, semi-compressed form with thick central stem, brown pubescence, violet flowers, spherical yellow seeds, brown hilum, 1000-seed mass 160-170 g.
Biological characteristics. The variety belongs to the early-maturing group with a vegetation period duration of 90-100 days, exhibits increased drought resistance, resistance to lodging (8.0-9.0 points), seed shattering (8.0-9.0 points), pathogens and pests (8.0 points), suitable for mechanized harvesting.
Agronomic characteristics. Recommended seeding rate 0.6-0.7 million germinating seeds per hectare. Sowing method: conventional row or wide-row (row spacing 45 cm). Agronomic practices are standard for the cultivation zone.
In the variety trial conducted by the Institute of Plant Growing named after V. Ya. Yuryev (2002-2004), the yield was 2.6 t/ha; in production conditions in the Kharkiv region in 2005 — 2.9 t/ha. In the Kherson region (Institute of Irrigated Agriculture) in 2011, the yield was 2.76 t/ha. Potential yield 3.5-3.7 t/ha, protein content in seeds — 39-40%, oil — 21-22%.
