Description AFINA
Sea buckthorn «AFINA» – a large-fruited variety of a fruit-bearing tree, obtained at the M.A. Lisavenko Research Institute of Horticulture (NIISS) by crossing the elite form 1186‑84‑2 with the pollinator 1431‑86. The bush is characterized by a strong, tree-like structure, medium height, and an oval-shaped crown of medium density.

The variety's fruits are large (ranging from 1.1 g to 1.5 g), egg-shaped, and red-orange in color. The flesh is juicy,酸甜 (sweet and sour), with good organoleptic properties; it contains 11.2% dry soluble substances, 5.3% sugar, and 1.5% titratable acids. The berries contain 3.4% oil, 104 mg of vitamin C per 100 g, and 15.7 mg of carotenoids per 100 g.

The variety has high yield – up to 11.5 tons per hectare, and fruiting begins in the fourth year after planting. The ripening period is medium: from August 25 to September 15, which allows for planning the harvest and subsequent processing.

«AFINA» is distinguished by its resistance to diseases and pests, as well as good frost hardiness, making it suitable for cultivation in regions with cold winters and sharp temperature fluctuations. The variety is suitable for both commercial production (oil, juices, canned goods) and home use – berries can be consumed fresh or used in folk medicine.
