Description MARIJA BRUVELE
Hippophae rhamnoides Maria Bruvele is a high-yielding variety developed in Latvia, distinguished by large and tasty berries of bright orange color. Bushes reach a height of 3–4 meters and a width of up to 3 meters; leaves are narrow, silvery, giving the plant a decorative appearance. Berries ripen in August–September, their mass is approximately 0.8–0.9 grams, and one bush can yield from 8 to 10 kilograms of berries.

The variety is self-sterile, but for an optimal harvest, it is recommended to plant one male bush for every three female ones. Plants prefer sunny sites and well-drained soils; the distance between saplings should be at least 2–3 meters. Maria Bruvele is suitable for both private gardens and industrial plantations due to its high yield and resistance to mycotic wilting.

Hippophae berries are rich in vitamins and antioxidants, making them ideal for making juices, jams, compotes, tinctures, and tea. Furthermore, the variety is widely used in the production of berry oil; it is characterized by a low content of thorns (approximately 1.2 per 10 cm of stem) and good resistance to bud bacterial blight. The abscission index of frozen fruits is 71, indicating high product stability during storage.
