Perennial ryegrass – a grass herb, valued as both a decorative and forage plant. It features a bright, juicy green hue, high turf density, and excellent drought and trampling tolerance. Thanks to its strong root system and ability to quickly recover after mowing, ryegrass is suitable for lawn mixes as well as roadside areas, residential grounds, and pastures.
The "FIESTA 4" variety is an elite option with high resistance to leaf grey spot and other common diseases such as dollar spot, anthracnose, and rot. A high level of endophytes provides additional protection against pests – caterpillars, weevils, and other insects feeding on the soil surface or plant cover. The recommended sowing rate is 2–3 kg per 100 sq. m., and seeds can be sown from early spring to late autumn.
Ryegrass shows optimal growth at temperatures of 18–25 °C but can germinate at temperatures above +2 °C and withstand moderate frosts. In the forage sector, it reaches heights of 100–150 cm, while in lawn mixes – up to 50 cm. After cutting, the plant regrows quickly, allowing for 2–3 cuts per season with regular irrigation and even 5–6 cuts with intensive watering. Thanks to high nutritional value and good digestibility, the obtained feed is highly valuable for livestock. Additionally, ryegrass serves as an excellent cover crop: its roots enrich the soil with organic matter, improving its structure and fertility.
