Genetic Architecture and Vegetation Period

The Dariy 23 rice variety is a product of selective breeding conducted by the A.K. Chaika Federal Research Center for Agrobiotechnology of the Far East. The primary engineering goal achieved by the developers is adaptation to the climatic conditions of the Far Eastern region, characterized by a significant deficit in active temperatures. A maturation period of 100–110 days classifies this variety as early-ripening, which is critical for regions with a short growing season.

Phytopathological Resistance as a Basis for Yield

A key technological parameter of this variety is its genetically encoded resistance to rice blast (pyriculariosis). The pathogen Pyricularia oryzae is the primary limiting factor in rice farming. Integrating resistance into the Dariy 23 genotype allows growers to minimize fungicide applications, thereby reducing chemical protection costs and lowering the risk of pesticide residue accumulation in the grain.

Technological Grain Quality

The selection of this variety is driven by its specific end-use. The physicochemical properties of the Dariy 23 endosperm make it an optimal raw material for two processing segments:

• Cereal Production: The grain exhibits excellent cooking properties while maintaining the texture required for high-quality side dishes.
• Baby Food: Low allergenicity and a balanced nutrient profile make this variety suitable for specialized infant nutrition products, which require strict raw material quality control.

The technological value of the variety lies in the combination of high seed productivity and stable grain quality, ensuring predictable yield output during industrial processing.
