Description

Radomir pea is a mid-season variety intended for cultivation in various climatic zones. Plants reach a height of 86 to 120 cm, have an erect stem with 15-20 internodes and 2-3 pairs of entire-margined leaflets. Flowers are white, arranged 1-2 per peduncle. Pods are spade-shaped, containing 3 to 9 small peas that differ in their very sweet taste. Seeds are round, smooth, with yellow cotyledons and a light hilum; the mass of 1000 seeds varies from 174 to 240 g. The Radomir variety is characterized by high resistance to lodging and shattering, as well as good cold tolerance and drought resistance. It is easy to grow and demonstrates high market and taste qualities. Protein content in the grain reaches 29.6%, exceeding standard indicators, while protein content in dry matter is up to 23.3%. The vegetation period is from 69 to 102 days depending on climatic conditions. Maximum grain yield can reach 44 c/ha, confirming the high productivity of the variety. Radomir pea is recommended for fresh consumption and is also suitable for canning and freezing. Due to its nutritional properties and disease resistance, it is widely used in agriculture to obtain a quality crop. The variety has a parchment layer in pods, which contributes to seed preservation and improves their storage. Despite overall resistance, the variety may be susceptible to root rots and ascocytosis, which requires attention in agronomic measures.
