The Captain rice variety is a medium-maturing variety derived from the hybrid population Flagman x IR-36. It is characterized by a vegetative period of 116-120 days and belongs to the italic type. The rice has a medium stem and panicle length, while the main axis of the panicle is strongly curved. The grain is threshed, of medium length, semi-fusiform shape, with a mass of 1000 grains of 32-33 grams. The glabrousness of the penultimate leaf blade is absent or very weak, and anthocyanin pigmentation of the ears does not manifest. Captain is distinguished by high yield, which on average reaches 80.7 c/ha in the North Caucasus region and 66.2 c/ha in Rostov Oblast, which is 3.6 c/ha higher than the standard Boyarin. The maximum yield of the variety was recorded in Krasnodar Krai and amounted to 99.6 c/ha. The variety is resistant to shattering and has high resistance to lodging, significantly surpassing the standard Boyarin in this indicator. In addition, Captain demonstrates excellent technological and culinary qualities of the grain. The Captain variety is recommended for cultivation in Rostov Oblast and is well adapted to the conditions of the North Caucasus and Lower Volga regions. It is resistant to pyricularia, which is confirmed by the applicant's data, although under field conditions when growing after multi-year grasses, the damage was average. Due to its characteristics and resistance to diseases, Captain is a reliable choice for rice agricultural production in the specified regions.
