The Piroet rice variety is a medium-maturing variety derived from selection at the «Agrarian Scientific Center «Don»». It is well adapted to climatic and soil conditions of the southern regions of Russia, in particular the Rostov region, and is also recommended for cultivation in the North Caucasus and Lower Volga regions. The growing period of the variety lasts about 124 days, which allows obtaining a stable harvest at medium-late dates. Plants are medium-sized, reaching a height of about 88 centimeters, with an erect panicle length of about 17.5 centimeters, on which approximately 162 oval grains measuring 8.9 mm long and 3.7 mm wide form. The Piroet variety is characterized by high yield, which in varietal trials reached an average of 9.57 tons per hectare, exceeding the standards of Yuzhanin. Maximum yields can reach 88.9 c/ha. The weight of 1000 grains is about 31.6 grams, indicating that the variety is large-grained. Thanks to marker selection, plants have three homozygous resistance genes to piricularia (Pi-1, Pi-2, Pi-33), which significantly increases their resistance to this disease. Piroet is characterized by high resistance to lodging and shedding, as well as good tolerance of low temperatures, making it a reliable choice for cultivation in various climatic conditions. These qualities, along with high yields and resistance to diseases, make the variety popular among agricultural producers. The seeds of the variety belong to elite ones, which confirms their high quality and demand on the market.
