Boyarin

BOYARIN — a medium-maturing rice variety (Oryza sativa L.) recommended for cultivation in the Rostov Region. This variety belongs to the negro-apiculata group and is characterized by the absence of anthocyanin leaf pigmentation. The panicle of the plant is straw-yellow, very short and dense, which contributes to resistance to lodging and grain shedding. The average yield of the variety is about 59 centners per hectare, with a maximum yield of up to 77 centners per hectare. The variety is distinguished by high technological and culinary qualities, making it attractive for agricultural production and the food industry.

Genetic studies of the BOYARIN variety showed that quantitative traits of the grain, such as length, width, and 1000-grain mass, are determined by several pairs of genes. In particular, the grain length depends on 1-3 pairs of genes, the width is determined by one pair, and the 1000-grain mass is determined by 2-3 pairs of genes. These data indicate complex inheritance and the possibility of breeding work to improve these characteristics.

The BOYARIN variety was developed by a group of authors, including Kostylev Pavel Ivanovich, Partfenyuk Anatoly Alekseevich, Stepovoi Vladimir Ivanovich, Bakhmazhki Sergey Semenovich, and Galiuchenko Viktor Fedorovich. Thanks to its agronomic and quality characteristics, this variety is a reliable choice for cultivation in the North Caucasus region.
