GL Rustikal pumpkin is a mid-season hybrid of hard-shelled pumpkin (Cucurbita pepo L.), intended for cultivation in private households. The plant is semi-vining with short stems, bearing a large number of fruits. Fruits are broadly elliptical, smooth, with immature fruit color dark green with white spots and patches, turning dark orange with intermittent dark stripes upon ripening. Average fruit weight is 4-5 kg, flesh is yellow, medium juicy and dense. The pumpkin has good transportability and retains its market quality for up to 60 days after harvest.
The variety is characterized by high yield of marketable fruits, reaching 4.9 kg/m² and potentially up to 14 kg/m², as well as seeds — up to 12 centners/ha. Seeds are characterized by high oil content, with oil content in them approximately 47.5%, making the variety promising for oilseed production. 1000 seeds weigh approximately 216 grams. The plant has moderate resistance to root rot and fruit rot, as well as high resistance to viral and bacterial diseases, powdery mildew.
The cultivation technology involves planting seeds individually with plant spacing from 0.7 to 1.4 meters during the period from late April to mid-May. To achieve expected yields, minimum rainfall during the vegetation period should be at least 250 mm. Fertilizer application is recommended at rates up to 90 kg nitrogen, 120 kg phosphorus, and 160 kg potassium per hectare. Harvesting is conducted at the end of September. Due to its characteristics and universal use, the GL Rustikal variety is suitable both for table use and for obtaining oilseed.
