Watermelon Demre

Demre F1 Watermelon — a mid-season hybrid from the Turkish breeding company Yuksel Tohum, intended for cultivation in open ground. It matures in 65-75 days after transplanting seedlings, allowing harvest during the main season even in northern regions. The plant is robust, compact, with abundant foliage that provides good protection for fruits against insects, ultraviolet radiation, and atmospheric precipitation. The hybrid demonstrates high adaptability to agronomic conditions and resistance to major diseases, making it low-maintenance and reliable for cultivation across various climatic zones. Demre watermelon fruits are large — weighing from 12 to 15 kg, with round-oval or elongated-oval shape and traditional striped coloration. The rind is thick and tough, preventing cracking and damage during transport, as well as contributing to long storage life. The flesh is bright red, uniform, free of voids and fibers, with a small amount of hard black seeds. When harvested promptly, the fruits are juicy and sweet; upon overripening, the flesh becomes more tender but even sweeter. Demre F1 watermelon is suitable for fresh consumption and pickling. Thanks to its disease resistance and adaptability to different cultivation conditions, this hybrid is suitable for growing in various regions, including northern areas. Its large, attractive fruits with pleasant aroma and excellent taste make it a popular choice among gardeners and farmers.
