Description Gleisdorfer Olkurbis
Gleisdorfer Olkurbis — this is a seedless pumpkin (Cucurbita pepo L. var. styriaca), bred in the Austrian province of Styria, where it has traditionally been grown for high-quality seeds without a hard shell. These seeds, characterized by their dark green color, are widely used for producing pumpkin seed oil, which is a valuable source of zinc and other beneficial substances. The fruits have a flat-round shape, yellow-orange rind with green stripes, and yellow flesh, with an average fruit weight of 3 to 5 kg. The variety is early maturing, ripening in about 90 days, and has good cold tolerance, allowing successful cultivation in northern regions.

Sowing seeds is recommended when soil temperature reaches +10...+12°С, at a depth of 3-4 cm with row spacing of 70 cm, using pneumatic precision seeders at a rate of 17-18 thousand seeds per hectare. To achieve high yields, mineral fertilizers at a rate of N80P120K180 are applied, and crop maintenance includes inter-row soil cultivation and herbicide use. Harvesting is carried out using specialized combines that crush the fruits and separate the seeds, leaving the pulp on the field as a green manure. After harvest, the seeds require additional cleaning by washing and subsequent drying.

Gleisdorfer Olkurbis seeds are not only used as raw material for oil production but also in the confectionery industry for making various sweets. They have a pleasant taste and can be consumed both raw and roasted. Due to their high yield and good storage properties, this variety is an excellent choice for farmers and oil producers seeking a quality product with beneficial properties.
