Matilda F1 is a medium-early, stress-resistant hybrid of musk type, developed by the Dutch breeding company Enza Zaden. The vegetative period is 105-110 days from germination. The plant exhibits strong growth and robust vines up to 4-4.5 meters long. Each plant forms 7 to 9 fruits, ensuring a stable and high yield even under temperature fluctuations. To increase yield, it is recommended to limit vine growth and pinch the tips. Flowering is abundant, though manual pollination may be required in some cases.
The fruits of Matilda pumpkin have a pear-shaped form with slight ribbing and weigh between 3 to 5 kilograms. The skin is dense, cream-orange or mustard-orange in color, providing good fruit storage. The flesh is uniform, medium-juicy, without cavities, with a small seed cavity or nearly seedless. Pumpkins can be harvested even when underripe, as they ripen well in dark and cool places. Due to their dense skin and flesh structure, the fruits retain their flavor and appearance for 3-4 months.
This hybrid is versatile in application: suitable for fresh markets, various thermal processing methods, and processing. Matilda F1 is characterized by its adaptability and ability to form a stable yield under challenging weather conditions and with various agronomic practices. Due to its characteristics, it is an excellent choice for both commercial cultivation and home use.
