Gerda

The Gerda winter wheat variety is a mid-season, semi-dwarf variety with plant height up to 85 cm and a growing season from 216 to 285 days. It is distinguished by high resistance to lodging and shattering during prolonged stay in the field, which facilitates harvest. The mass of 1000 seeds ranges from 40 to 47 grams, indicating the large-grained nature of the variety. Gerda withstands the freezing temperatures of the latter half and end of winter, as well as late spring frosts, ensuring high winter hardiness and reliability in cultivation under unfavorable climatic conditions.

This variety is characterized by high yield with a potential of about 120 centners of grain per hectare. It is resistant to brown rust and powdery mildew, has moderate resistance to yellow rust and head blight, but is susceptible to septoria and loose smut. Drought resistance of the variety is also at a high level, making it suitable for cultivation in regions with limited moisture. The sowing rate is 4-5 million viable seeds per hectare, which is optimal for achieving maximum productivity.

Gerda belongs to valuable wheat varieties with high milling and baking qualities. The grain contains high protein and gluten content, ensuring the production of high-quality flour and bakery products. The variety is recommended for cultivation in the North-Caucasian and Lower Volga regions of Russia, where it successfully adapts to local agroclimatic conditions and agrofon.
