Potato Kupava

Elite Genetics from the Ukrainian Institute of Potato Research

"Kupava" is a staple of modern Ukrainian potato breeding, developed by the Institute of Potato Research of NAAS. As a mid-season table potato, it has earned a reputation for combining consistent yields with reliable field performance. With a growing cycle of 75-85 days, it fits perfectly into the production schedules of commercial farms looking for a stable supply of high-quality tubers for the fresh market.

Disease Resistance and Farm Management

The primary appeal of "Kupava" lies in its genetic resistance to major soil-borne and foliar diseases. This built-in immunity simplifies crop management and reduces the need for heavy chemical intervention. The variety shows strong resistance to:

• Potato Wart;
• Golden Potato Cyst Nematode;
• Common Scab;
• Late Blight (both foliage and tubers).

This resilience makes it a highly viable option for producers aiming to reduce input costs while maintaining high quality standards.

Marketability and Consumption

The tubers of "Kupava" are characterized by their uniform oval shape, which is highly sought after by retailers and consumers alike. Weighing in at 130–200 grams, these potatoes hit the ideal weight class for packaging and retail display. With a starch content of 11–12%, the variety offers a balanced culinary profile—it maintains its texture during boiling and cooking, avoiding darkening or crumbling, which cements its place as a top-tier table variety.
