Description
The potato variety Knyazha is a medium-maturing table variety developed by the Institute of Potato Breeding of NAAN. It is characterized by light pink, round-oval tubers with distinct eyes, and flesh with a light yellow or cream color. The starch content in the tubers ranges from 14 to 18%, making this variety versatile for various culinary purposes. The flower's corolla is red-violet, which is a distinctive feature of the variety.
The Knyazha variety exhibits high resistance to various viral diseases and late blight, as well as resilience to degeneration. It is drought-tolerant and highly adaptable, allowing successful cultivation on all types of soils, including steppes and forest-steppes. Due to its adaptability and resistance to pests, this potato is well-suited for cultivation under various climatic conditions in Ukraine.
The average yield of the Knyazha variety is 68-70 tons per hectare, but under optimal conditions such as irrigation and fertilizer application, it can exceed 80 tons, and in some cases reach over 100 tons per hectare. The potato has high storability and resistance to mechanical damage, ensuring long-term storage and preservation of its market appearance. Due to its excellent taste and high productivity, the Knyazha variety is suitable for both private cultivation on home plots and commercial production.
