SPECTRA

Spectra potato is an ultra-early, high-yielding table variety developed by Dutch breeders and registered in the Netherlands in 2017. Its vegetation period is only 40-50 days, allowing for an early harvest. The variety is characterized by vigorous growth and low requirements for watering and fertilization, ensuring stable fruiting even under standard agronomic practices. It is recommended to avoid overcrowding and to plant seeds 2-3 cm deeper than usual due to the large size of the tubers.

The tubers of Spectra potato have a round-oval shape, yellow thin, shiny skin with small surface eyes. The weight of a single tuber ranges from 100 to 180 grams. The flesh is light yellow, dense, does not darken upon heating, and has moderate softening, making the variety versatile in cooking. When boiled, the flesh becomes brittle, and when fried, it becomes soft inside with a crispy crust. The starch content is about 17.9%, ensuring optimal texture and flavor balance.

The variety is resistant to several diseases, including golden nematode, potato late blight, potato cancer, and viral infections. It is also less sensitive to herbicides and resistant to flesh darkening during storage. Spectra potato withstands transportation well and is suitable for medium-term storage up to 6 months under proper conditions. Due to its quality and appearance, this variety is ideal for packaging and retail distribution.
