ISKRA

The potato variety ISKRA is an early-maturing table variety with a vegetation period of 70-80 days. Tubers have light beige skin and white flesh, spherical shape, and small eyes. The average weight of marketable tubers ranges from 90 to 120 grams, and the number of tubers per plant varies from 8 to 11. The variety is characterized by high marketability — around 90-92% — making it attractive for commercial cultivation and sale.

The ISKRA variety has good yield, reaching 240-320 centners per hectare, with maximum yields up to 360 centners. Starch content of tubers ranges from 13-19%, ensuring versatility in culinary use — it is suitable for preparing various dishes. Taste varies from satisfactory to good, and increased protein content is an additional advantage. Storage capacity of the variety is about 92%, ensuring preservation of tubers during winter at medium to good levels.

In terms of disease resistance, the ISKRA variety has moderate resistance to viral diseases, late blight (pathotype I), phytophthora blight and tuber rot, and black scab. However, it is susceptible to rizoctonia, common scab, and golden potato nematode. Preferred growing regions include the Central, Volga-Vyatka, and North Caucasus regions of Russia. The variety is a selection of the Ural Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
