Description
The potato variety Malinovka is a medium-late table variety recommended for cultivation in home gardens and small farms in the Central region. The plant is tall, upright, with open medium-sized green leaves and a red-purple flower. The tubers are round in shape, with small, medium-depth eyes, covered with smooth red skin, and white flesh. The average weight of marketable tubers ranges from 77 to 102 grams, with 6 to 10 tubers per plant. Starch content is 12.4–18%, making this variety suitable for preparing various dishes and processing, including the production of crispy potatoes. The flesh does not darken upon cutting or boiling, which is an additional advantage for culinary use.
The yield of Malinovka variety is relatively high, reaching 117–198 centners per hectare under standard conditions, with maximum yields up to 224 centners per hectare. Tubers’ marketability is 77–88%, and storability reaches 94–96%, ensuring good product preservation during storage. The variety is distinguished by good to excellent taste, confirming its high consumer qualities.
Malinovka exhibits resistance to several diseases, including potato cancer (pathotype I) and common scab, and is weakly affected by golden potato cyst nematode. According to data from the All-Russian Research Institute of Phytopathology, the variety is moderately susceptible to late blight on foliage and moderately resistant on tubers, and conditionally resistant to ring rot, rizoctonia, and viral diseases. For successful cultivation, standard agronomic practices are recommended, including pre-sprouting tubers for 2–3 weeks before planting and optimal planting scheme of 70×35 cm.
