Java potato is a medium-late variety of German selection EUROPLANT, characterized by high yield, excellent taste, and good storability. The vegetation period is 95–105 days, ensuring stable plant development and formation of high-quality tubers. The tubers are oval, medium to large in size, with smooth yellow skin and rich yellow flesh. The tubers have shallow eyes, which facilitates cleaning and gives them a marketable appearance. The average weight of one tuber is 80–150 g, and each plant can yield 15–17 uniformly sized tubers. Starch content is within 14–18%, making this variety suitable for various culinary purposes.
The variety shows high resistance to diseases such as golden nematode (PCN Ro1, Ro2/3, Ro4, Ro5), potato scab (pathotypes 1, 2(a), 6(a)), as well as low susceptibility to late blight, spring blight, mechanical damage, and blue mold. Due to its excellent storability, Java potato can be stored for a long time, making it convenient for storage and subsequent use. This variety is also adapted to various temperate climate conditions, allowing cultivation both in farms and on private plots.
Java potato is versatile in culinary applications. When thermally processed, tubers retain their original color and become fluffy, providing dishes with a pleasant texture and taste. Planting is recommended to begin at the end of March or beginning of April, and maturity occurs in May–June. Early harvest yield is approximately 400 centners per hectare, and when combined with later-maturing varieties, it can reach up to 800 centners per hectare. Due to its resistance to rotting infections and Alternaria, this variety is a reliable choice for cultivation and obtaining quality harvests.
