Description KABARDIN EARLY
The Kabardin Early plum is a large-fruited variety of early-maturing plum that begins fruiting in mid-July. The tree is of medium height, reaching up to 5-6 meters, with a round or wide-oval canopy of medium density. The fruits have an oval shape with a well-defined symmetrical suture, colored dark blue or violet-red with a waxy bloom and reddish tint. The average fruit weight ranges from 45 to 60 grams, the pit is small and easily separates from the flesh. The flesh is yellow, medium density, juicy, and possesses high taste qualities, making this variety universal for fresh consumption, canning, and processing. The variety is characterized by high yield — up to 70 kg per tree, corresponding to approximately 15 buckets of fruit. Fruiting begins in the 3rd-5th year after planting, reaching its peak at 10-15 years, and the tree can fruit for up to 30 years. Kabardin Early is practically self-fertile, but to increase yield, planting with a 4x4 meter interval is recommended. The tree prefers sunny, wind-protected locations and fertile, well-drained soils with moderate irrigation. The variety has medium frost hardiness, withstanding temperatures down to minus 15 degrees, but is sensitive to return frosts, which can damage flowers and ovaries. It is resistant to diseases such as spotted leaf and polystigmosis, but is susceptible to monilia burn. Drought and prolonged rain are poorly tolerated, and resistance to pests, particularly plum moth, is rated as medium. Despite these limitations, Kabardin Early is valued for its excellent taste qualities and high productivity, making it a popular choice for cultivation in southern regions.
