Pepper variety "Purple Mist" is a medium-early hybrid with a period from germination to fruiting onset of 115-125 days. The plant is medium-height, reaching up to 80 cm, with a semi-stemmed, semi-arching form and medium-sized, wrinkled green leaves. Fruits have a truncated-pyramidal or cuboid shape, smooth and glossy, with wall thickness of 5-7 mm. In technical ripeness, they are colored bright purple or violet, and upon full ripeness, they acquire a rich red hue. Fruit mass varies from 90-100 g to 130-140 g, depending on growing conditions.
This variety is characterized by high yield and stable fruiting. Yield per plant ranges from 1.6 to 1.8 kg, and per square meter — from 4.2 to 6.8 kg of marketable fruits. Fruits have good flavor, juicy and aromatic, making them attractive for fresh consumption as well as culinary use. A distinctive feature of the variety is the original fruit color and fleshiness, which adds to their decorative value.
"Purple Mist" is recommended for cultivation in plastic and glass greenhouses. Seedlings are sown at the end of February, pinching out — in the cotyledon stage, and transplanting into the ground — at the end of May. For plant shaping, all side shoots and leaves should be removed up to the first fork, and planting scheme is 40x60 cm. Thanks to such agronomic practices, maximum productivity and quality of the harvest are achieved.
