Pepper Shokoladka

Spice and Character: The 'Shokoladka' Pepper

The Gavrish selection firm has long established itself as a reputable player in the vegetable crop market, and the 'Shokoladka' hot pepper variety is a vivid testament to their work. This pepper stands out among competitors not only for its intriguing name but for its practicality and stability in various growing environments. The variety was originated by Sergey Fedorovich Gavrish, whose scientific school set high standards of adaptability for numerous hybrids.

Adaptability and Agrotechnics

The key feature of 'Shokoladka' is its versatility in planting location. The variety performs reliably in open soil as well as under the protection of glass greenhouses. This makes it an excellent choice for both small-scale household farms and professional producers focused on broad market distribution.

• Maturation timeline: technical ripeness is reached 75–80 days after transplanting.
• Color dynamics: at the stage of technical ripeness, the fruits are colored in a deep dark green, which changes to bright red upon reaching biological maturity.
• Fruit structure: the pepper features a significant wall thickness for its class (5–6 mm), which enhances its market quality and makes it suitable for culinary processing, canning, and drying.

The reputation of this variety is built on predictability. Farmers value 'Shokoladka' for the uniformity of the fruits and a clear development cycle. It is not a variety that requires constant monitoring, yet it responds well to standard agrotechnical practices, such as fertilization and adequate irrigation. In regions with a short summer season, the stable 75–80 day cycle ensures a reliable harvest before the first frosts, which is critical for northern and central climatic zones.

The applications for 'Shokoladka' are virtually limitless: from use as a fresh spice to the creation of piquant preserves for the winter. The high density of the walls allows the fruits to maintain their market appearance for a long time after harvest, simplifying logistics from field to shelf.
