The sweet pepper variety Katyusha is a medium-early, stress-resistant, and productive variety that grows successfully both in open ground and under plastic coverings. The plant is medium-sized, bush-type, robust, and well-leafed, reaching a height of 50 to 75 centimeters. It does not require special pruning and is adaptable to growing conditions, quickly recovering after transplanting and maintaining high productivity under various weather conditions.
The fruits of the Katyusha variety have a conical or prism-shaped form with a smooth and glossy surface. In technical maturity, they are light green, and in biological maturity, they turn into a rich yellow-orange hue. The average weight of the fruits ranges from 80 to 150 grams, with wall thickness of 5-7 millimeters, making them juicy, flavorful, and aromatic. Inside the fruits, there are 2-3 seed chambers. The taste quality is rated as excellent, and the vitamin C content makes them nutritious and beneficial.
The variety is characterized by high yield — with proper agronomic practices, 2.3 to 3.4 kilograms of harvest can be obtained per square meter. Each plant forms 5-6 fruits, which have good market appearance and high transportability, allowing them to retain freshness and flavor during storage and sale. The Katyusha pepper is widely used fresh, in home cooking, and is suitable for canning and freezing. Additionally, the variety is resistant to verticillium wilt and tolerant to tobacco mosaic virus, increasing its reliability and appeal for cultivation.
