Description Volzhanin
Sweet pepper variety Volzhani — a mid-early maturing variety developed at the Volgograd Experimental Station of the All-Russian Research Institute of Plant Growing in 1997. This variety is adapted for cultivation in the middle belt and Volga regions, making it attractive to gardeners and farmers. The plant is semi-determinate, semi-branching, 40-46 cm tall, with green medium leaves and solitary white flowers. Fruits are broadly conical, hanging, slightly ribbed, weighing 44–74 g and measuring 7.5–11 cm in length. In technical maturity, fruits are light green, and in biological maturity — red. The wall thickness is 4–7 mm, ensuring juiciness and firmness of the fruits.

The Volzhani variety is resistant to verticillium wilt, enhancing its reliability during cultivation. Fruit ripening occurs on the 112–120th day after emergence. For successful cultivation, light, loose, and fertile soils are recommended. Seeds are pre-soaked in water and sown to a depth of 0.5 cm in seedling trays or peat pots. At 25°C, seedlings emerge within 5–10 days, and the optimal temperature for cultivation is 20–25°C.

The fruits of the Volzhani variety are versatile in use. They are suitable for slicing into salads and appetizers, adding to side dishes, borscht, and soups. Due to their compact size, the fruits are convenient for canning and pickling, as they fit well into jars. This variety is an excellent choice for both novice vegetable growers and experienced farmers seeking high-quality sweet pepper with good taste and processing characteristics.
