Sigurd F1 is an early-maturing, self-pollinating hybrid of the cornichon type, developed by the Dutch seed company Enza Zaden. This variety is characterized by a long fruiting period and can be grown both in plastic and glass greenhouses during the spring-summer season, as well as in open ground. The plants have a strong root system, high growth vigor, and heat tolerance, ensuring stable development and high yields.
The fruits of Sigurd cucumber are dark green, cylindrical, measuring 10–12 cm in length and about 3 cm in diameter. They are large-budded, firm, with a small seed cavity, making them attractive for fresh consumption and processing. One to three cucumbers form per node, and the hybrid sets fruit well, not dropping fruit even under stress conditions. Fruit weight is approximately 90–100 grams.
The hybrid is distinguished by high stress tolerance and plasticity, enabling it to maintain market appearance during transport. It is resistant to diseases such as cucumber mosaic virus and powdery mildew, and has moderate resistance to downy mildew. These qualities make Sigurd F1 a reliable choice for cultivation under various climatic conditions and ensure a stable, high-quality harvest.
