Description SERENO
Serrano pepper — an spicy chili variety native to the foothills of Mexican states of Hidalgo and Puebla, second only to habanero in popularity. It features a compact plant height of 45 to 70 cm and high productivity: up to 50 fruits can ripen simultaneously on a single plant. Fruits are cylindrical, up to 10 cm long and about 1.5 cm in diameter. Initially dark green, they turn bright red and glossy upon full ripening. For optimal flavor, harvest when green or at the beginning of color change.

This variety is highly spicy — up to 20,000 Scoville units, making it 2–3 times spicier than habanero. Fruits are fleshy, firm, dense, and crunchy, with a rich flavor, allowing versatile culinary uses. Serrano is ideal for making spicy sauces, traditional Mexican salsas, soups, meat marinades, vegetable and meat salads. It can be eaten raw or dried for long-term storage.

The variety is highly resilient and easy to grow both outdoors, in greenhouses, and in pots. The compact, bushy plant is convenient for home cultivation. Fruits ripen approximately 75 days after transplanting, enabling seasonal harvests. Due to its flavor and versatility, Serrano pepper is an excellent choice for lovers of spicy flavors and traditional Mexican cuisine.
