Peony MARIA USPENSKAYA PEONY

Northern Garden Aesthetics: The 'Marianna Uspenskaya' Tree Peony

Developed by the FGBOU VO Lomonosov Moscow State University breeding program, the 'Marianna Uspenskaya' tree peony is a testament to adaptive plant selection. Unlike many introduced hybrids that struggle in harsh conditions, this variety is engineered for robustness, prioritizing genetic resilience in climates with severe temperature fluctuations.

Key Advantages

• Frost Resistance: Capable of enduring temperatures as low as -30°C, this peony is well-suited for colder regions, significantly reducing the risk of floral bud death during winter.
• Bloom Type: The dense, double flowers provide substantial visual weight, turning the bush into a striking focal point of any landscape during the blooming season.
• Ornamental Value: An ideal choice for garden centerpieces or formal flower beds. The plant maintains a stable, architectural shrub form throughout the season without requiring complex pruning.

Cultivation Nuances

Despite its impressive winter hardiness, this plant demands high-quality soil nutrition. To fully realize its potential for double-flowering, plant it in fertile, well-draining soil. Given its moderate drought tolerance, 'Marianna Uspenskaya' requires consistent moisture during the active growing season; water deficits in June and July can hinder the development of next year's flower buds.

The optimal planting site is a sunny location protected from strong winds. Heavy shade may cause the plant to stretch and reduce bloom intensity. This variety is an excellent selection for gardeners seeking a balance between the exquisite elegance of classic tree peonies and the reliable performance of a climate-adapted breed.
