TYUMENETS

Pea variety Tyumenets is a mid-late, leafless variety developed at the Tyumen Scientific Center. It is primarily intended for fodder use and is characterized by high yield and good grain quality. Plants reach a height of 74 to 101 cm, have white flowers with a maximum of up to two flowers per node. Pods are weakly curved with a blunt tip, containing 7 to 9 round seeds with yellow cotyledons and a light hilum. The vegetative period ranges from 73 to 101 days, allowing the variety to adapt to various climatic conditions, including the northern forest-steppe.

The variety is distinguished by high resistance to lodging and shattering, as well as moderate resistance to leaf ascochitis, however, it is susceptible to pod and seed diseases, and highly susceptible to root rots. Drought resistance is above average, making it suitable for cultivation in various regions, including Smolensk region and the Central region. Average yield of the variety under these conditions reaches 25 centners per hectare, which is 3 centners above the average standard, while maximum yield can reach 46.4 centners per hectare.

Under conditions of the northern forest-steppe of the Tyumen region, the Tyumenets variety showed relatively low resistance to lodging compared to other varieties, however, its high productivity and large grain size provide significant yield potential. The mass of 1000 seeds varies from 184 to 270 grams, while protein content in the grain is 24.2 to 25.9%, confirming the fodder value of the crop. Sowing rates are recommended within 95-110 thousand seeds per hectare, which contributes to optimal plant development and achieving high yield indicators.
