SIBUR 2 is a medium-maturing variety of field pea (Pisum sativum L.) with a vegetative period of 70 to 96 days, depending on growing conditions. Plants reach a height of 55 to 100 cm and are characterized by a leafless type, which facilitates care and harvest collection. Seeds of the variety have a spherical shape with yellow cotyledons and a light scar, with the mass of 1000 seeds varying from 146 to 244 g, which in some cases exceeds standard indicators. Flowers are white, up to two flowers form at nodes, and pods have a slightly curved shape with a blunt top.
The variety is characterized by high yield, which in the East Siberian region averages 18.3 centners/ha, and in individual cases, for example in the Republic of Buryatia, the maximum yield reached 40.8 centners/ha. In the Republic of Khakassia, the variety's yield exceeded the standard variety Yakhot by 2.3 centners/ha. SIBUR 2 has medium resistance to lodging and drought, as well as high resistance to shattering, making it a reliable choice for various climatic conditions. Protein content in the grain reaches 26.5%, which exceeds standard indicators and ensures high nutritional value of the harvest.
Despite high yield and quality indicators, the variety is susceptible to ascochitis and highly susceptible to root rots, which requires careful approach to plant protection. Pea SIBUR 2 is suitable for both industrial-scale cultivation and home gardens. Its large, juicy pods with tender grains are ideal for fresh consumption, canning, and preparing various dishes, making this variety universal and in demand among agricultural producers and gardening enthusiasts.
