Kazanets pea variety is an annual climbing herbaceous plant from the Legume family. Its stem is slightly branched and can reach a length from 50 centimeters to 2-3 meters. Flowers form in the leaf axils, and large rounded stipules embracing the stem are located at the leaf base. The pea fruit is a two-chambered pod containing 2 to 10 smooth or angular round seeds. Peas are consumed throughout the year in dry form, as well as canned or frozen. From May to July, peas are green and sweet in taste.
The Kazanets variety was bred at the Tatar State Research Institute of Agriculture by individual selection from a complex hybrid combination involving the Uladovsky 10, Neosypaemy 1, and Us-16 varieties. This variety was registered and approved for use in 1996. The authors of the variety are Yevdokimova T.G., A.N. Fadeeva, Fetotova I.N., Eryasheva I.P., and Afinogentova N.V.
