Onion YALTINSKIY WHITE

Cultivating Gavrish 'Yaltinsky Bely' Salad Onion

When selecting seeds for the salad onion segment, predictability and disease resistance are the primary benchmarks for any grower. The 'Yaltinsky Bely' variety from the Gavrish breeding firm delivers consistent results, provided the grower respects its specific lifecycle. As a mid-late variety with a maturation period of 120–130 days, effective calendar planning is essential for a successful harvest.

Agrotechnics and Disease Management

Being a salad-type onion, the moisture content is its selling point; therefore, irrigation scheduling is vital throughout the growing season. A major technical advantage is its natural resistance to downy mildew (peronosporosis). This trait is a significant relief, as it minimizes the need for aggressive fungicide application and simplifies field maintenance during humid weather conditions.

Field Notes

• Soil conditions: Responds best to well-drained, loose soils. Proper preparation is key to bulb uniformity.
• Maintenance: Early weed control is crucial, as the young shoots are sensitive to competition.
• Market Strategy: It is important to note that, like most salad onions, this variety is not intended for long-term winter storage. It is best positioned for the early-to-mid season fresh market.

The genetics developed by Alexander Nikolayevich Logunov ensure that the crop remains healthy under standard management. If you are looking for a reliable, high-quality white salad onion, the 'Yaltinsky Bely' consistently meets its stated performance targets.
