ODINTSOVETS

The Onion 'Odintsovets' is a mid-season bulb onion intended for cultivation as an annual crop from seeds. The maturation period ranges from 100 to 120 days, allowing for a harvest in a relatively short time. The bulbs have a round-flat or slightly elongated shape, a dense structure, and a mass ranging from 55 to 180 grams depending on the cultivation method. The outer scales are golden-yellow, the inner scales are juicy and white, and the taste is semi-sharp, making this variety universal for various culinary purposes. The variety is characterized by high product uniformity and low coddling, typically forming 2-3 bulbs per corm. To obtain larger bulbs, cultivation via seedlings is recommended: seeds are sown for seedlings in March, and transplanted into open ground at the beginning of May. When sowing directly into the ground, seeds are planted at a depth of 1-1.5 cm at the end of April or beginning of May. The recommended planting scheme is 7-10 cm between plants in a row and 15-20 cm between rows. Plants require timely irrigation, which is stopped in July, and sunny plots are best chosen for successful growth. The variety is resistant to bulb rot and has medium resistance to other diseases and pests. 'Odintsovets' is distinguished by excellent storage and transportability, allowing bulbs to be stored for more than six months without loss of quality. It is suitable for both fresh consumption and drying and long-term storage. Additionally, the variety is suitable for forcing for greenery, which expands its usage possibilities. High yield, reaching 195-410 centners per hectare, makes this variety attractive for cultivation in various regions with a moderate climate.
