Onion Philadelphia

Focus on Processing: The «Philadelphia» Onion Hybrid

In the landscape of onion cultivation for industrial needs, «Philadelphia» stands out as a specialized solution. Developed by the Federal Research Center for Vegetable Growing (Russia, registry No. 531), this hybrid was engineered to meet the stringent requirements of food processing plants that demand consistency and high technological performance from their raw materials.

Technological Profile

Unlike universal market varieties, «Philadelphia» is optimized for industrial processes where dry matter content and bulb geometry are paramount. Its physical characteristics are specifically designed to facilitate automated peeling, slicing, and dicing, significantly reducing waste during manufacturing.

• Origin: Bred by the Federal Research Center for Vegetable Growing, ensuring localized adaptation and reliable genetic background.
• Application: Strictly for industrial processing (freezing, drying, and convenience food production).
• Uniformity: The hybrid nature of the crop ensures high consistency in bulb size and shape, which is critical for maintaining efficiency on production lines.

«Philadelphia» is the strategic choice for large-scale operations contracted with food processors. By providing a uniform and predictable yield, it minimizes the downtime and manual labor usually associated with sorting and trimming sub-standard produce. The result is a more efficient processing cycle and a higher output of high-quality ingredients.
