Onion GARDSMAN

Investing in Productivity: Why Professional Growers Choose Guardsman Chives

For agricultural enterprises specializing in fresh herbs, the choice of planting material dictates the season's profitability. The Guardsman variety, developed by the British breeding company A L Tozer, has established itself as one of the most reliable assets for early production. This perennial chive variety is the ideal solution for producers planning a conveyor-belt system for salad onions with high turnover per square meter.

Field Application Scenarios

• Early Season Start: With a maturation period of up to 90 days, this variety allows growers to secure the first marketable yield in a very short time, ensuring consistent supply chains for retail partners.
• Intensive Harvesting: The crop is perfectly suited for manual harvesting. High leaf density and excellent market quality allow for the collection of clean, high-value produce that requires minimal pre-sale preparation.
• Disease Management: Fungal infections are a primary challenge in herb cultivation. Guardsman stands out due to its resistance to late blight and effective natural defense against powdery mildew, reducing the need for intensive chemical applications and boosting the eco-friendliness of the final product.

With yields exceeding 100 tonnes per hectare, the variety is highly attractive for commercial operations prioritizing efficiency. By selecting Guardsman, farmers gain more than just seed material; they acquire a stable foundation for a business focused on the volume and quality demands of the fresh salad market.
