Onion RICH BED

Genetic Potential and Selection Value

The "Bogataya Gryadka" onion variety is a result of advanced selection efforts by the "Geterozisnaya Selektsiya" company in collaboration with the ICG SB RAS. The technical merit of this variety lies in its integrated genetic mechanisms designed for extreme farming conditions, addressing challenges such as short photoperiods and sudden temperature fluctuations.

Technical Specifications and Morphology

• Root System Architecture: The selection process prioritized the development of a robust primary root, ensuring nutrient uptake during periods of moisture deficit.
• Scale Integrity: The dense configuration of outer scales acts as a high-performance barrier against moisture loss, which is essential for extended shelf-life and supply chain durability.
• Photosynthetic Efficiency: The leaf apparatus is optimized to maximize solar energy conversion, even in temperate and northern climatic zones.

The design approach employed by breeders, including A.V. Aliluev, relies on cytogenetic analysis to ensure phenotypic uniformity. In field practice, this results in synchronized bulb maturity, a critical factor for mechanized harvesting and minimizing post-harvest losses. By utilizing heterosis principles, the developers have mitigated yield depression, ensuring that the crop performs consistently across diverse soil-climatic profiles.

Practical Implementation

This variety is engineered for successful production in annual cycles. The balanced ratio of sugars and essential oils provides both culinary quality and the structural integrity required for modern logistics. The rapid maturation of the bulb neck significantly reduces the risk of storage-related rot. For agricultural producers, "Bogataya Gryadka" represents a predictable input, offering a reliable harvest outcome even when environmental parameters are not ideal.
