Oloroso F1 is a medium-late hybrid of long-day bulb onions developed by the Dutch company Nunhems Zaden. It matures in 120-125 days after emergence and is characterized by high yield due to its robust root system and extensive leaf apparatus. The plant is adaptable to various agronomic conditions and climates, enabling successful cultivation in diverse regions under open ground. Planting density ranges from 600 to 1 million plants per hectare, which maximizes land use and ensures high-quality harvest.
Oloroso onions have a round shape, high uniformity, and dense structure. Their weight varies from 150 to 200 grams, and the outer scales are dark bronze or yellow-brown. The inner scales are white, fleshy, and juicy, with a moderately spicy flavor and rich aroma. Thanks to their firm scales and dense structure, the onions have a long storage life — up to 9 months — making them suitable for both fresh marketing and processing.
The variety exhibits high resistance to common diseases such as basal rot and fusarium, significantly reducing yield losses and improving quality. For optimal cultivation, use neutral, light soils with good light exposure and apply drip irrigation to control soil moisture. Oloroso F1 is suitable for mechanical harvesting, simplifying agronomic processes and increasing production efficiency.
